Local processing
Birth details, time zone, people, moments, chapters, journals and time capsules are processed in your browser. The app code does not upload this content to an app server. There is no required account, external font loading, advertising scripts or client-side visitor identification.
Session storage and optional remembering
The app uses human4life-v16-session in session storage. Reloading may preserve it; browsers can restore sessions. Only “Remember on this device” also saves human4life-v16 persistently. Turning it off removes that persistent copy. A browser profile is not a protected account; other people with access to the same profile may read the data.
Drafts and language changes
Public calculators do not change saved profiles. An explicitly requested hand-off stays as a draft in life4moments-handoff in session storage. The app accepts it only within five minutes and removes it on the next visit. Expired drafts are removed on a later page visit; browsers may retain session data until then. It contains no health answers. German and English on the same origin share data. Other domains have separate storage.
Statistics and health answers
Official life tables are bundled as static files; your birthday is not sent to Eurostat. Only deliberately saving a reference line stores country, category, dataset, calculation day and reference. Optional lifestyle answers remain only in the open form and are excluded from backups. Clear or reload to remove them.
Messages and backups
Time capsules are stored locally with title, message and opening dates. The date is not a cryptographic lock. JSON backups include unopened capsules and journal moods. Optionally, Web Crypto encrypts the file with your password; neither password nor content is uploaded. Browser data itself remains unencrypted. A lost password cannot be recovered.
Deletion and earlier versions
“Delete app data” removes current data and open drafts. You can additionally delete recognised earlier standalone versions. A small flag prevents automatic re-import. Other projects and downloads remain. Import supports earlier formats 7, 9 and 10; original stored data remains as a fallback.
Hosting and contact
When you load a page, the STRATO server processes connection data such as IP address, time and requested resource. Secure operation relies on GDPR Article 6(1)(f). Scope, retention and recipients of server logs depend on the actual hosting configuration. The operator must reconcile these details with operations before publication. Email enquiries are processed to respond to your request (GDPR Article 6(1)(b) or (f), depending on the enquiry); the contact address uses Gmail. Please do not send sensitive journals unsolicited.
Offline files, links and sharing
A service worker caches only explicitly listed public files. External sources and social networks are visited only when you open them. General sharing uses only the website address. You choose content and recipients for personal cards and calendar files. Check the preview.
Your rights
Subject to legal requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and may complain to a data protection authority, such as the Lower Saxony data protection authority. The operator cannot access entries held only locally. Use local backup and deletion tools for these.
